Discover our tools Explore TraceThe purpose of this consultancy is to support PT Cinquer Agro Nusantara (PT Can), PT KGF, Verstegen and Fairfood, partners of the aGROWforests programme, in documenting, structuring, and designing a comprehensive learning resource library. This library will serve as a central repository for training materials, learning notes, technical guidance, and communication assets developed throughout the three-year programme implementing agroforestry for pepper farmers in Indonesia.
The consultant will ensure that materials are well-organised, visually engaging, and accessible to diverse audiences, including government trainers, farmer organisations, and development partners. Ultimately, the resource library will showcase pepper as a promising diversification crop for Indonesia’s smallholder farmers, support the adoption of sustainable agroforestry practices, and mobilise wider institutional and market support for resilient and climate-smart pepper farming.

Project background

The aGROWforests project is a public–private partnership supported by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through GIZ. The consortium includes Verstegen Spices & Sauces B.V., PT Cinquer Agro Nusantara (PT Can), Fairfood, Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung (HRNS), and Klumbayan Gold Farm.
The project is supporting a greener and fair pepper supply chain by implementing regenerative agriculture and agroforestry with 2,300 farmers in Indonesia, while also reducing and removing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with pepper farming. Through this approach, aGROWforests has supported the transition towards climate-smart, inclusive, and profitable pepper production in Bangka Belitung and Lampung provinces. The project also contributes to broader learning on how regenerative agriculture and agroforestry can strengthen farmer livelihoods, restore ecosystems, and build more sustainable spice supply chains.
Throughout the project, partners have generated valuable learning materials, such as training guides, agroforestry models, monitoring tools, and learning notes, which now need to be systematically documented, organised, and made accessible to key stakeholders.
