The Living Wage & Income Lab is going digital
The lab is back, now as the Living Wage & Income Lab, and it’s time to address living wages and incomes in the agri-food sector. As new measures require, the event is going digital, so save the date: 8 February 2022, 10-11am CET.
Championed by Fairfood, the Living Wage & Income Lab is the first laboratory bringing together producers, retailers and other stakeholders in the agri-food sector to come up with innovative solutions to tackle low payments in global supply chains. For the first session of 2022, we will build upon business practices that truly benefit farmers and farm workers. You can expect to learn from Tony’s Chocolonely, Eosta and Fairtrade Original’s experience towards fair cocoa, avocado and coffee.
The first session will discuss ways to accelerate change through business practices that truly benefit producers and farmworkers. For that, keynote speakers from Tony’s, Fairtrade Original and Eosta will guide us through their living wage and income journey. As we learn what worked and what didn’t for them, we’ll also have the Oxfam team on board to highlight effective interventions for companies to achieve a living income. Expect a very interactive setting and a lot of networking opportunities.
Picking up from where we left off
Developed in 2015 in partnership with the NGO Hivos, the lab is now part of Fairfood’s RECLAIM Sustainability! programme, a 5-year strategic partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs to foster inclusive and sustainable value chains. We say farewell and big thanks to our dearest partner Hivos, co-founders of this initiative who played a big role in creating this community of innovators.
Starting this February, we will organise 3 – 4 lab sessions per year, where you will have the opportunity to work with other companies on closing living wage and income gaps, and deep dive on how to benefit from different methods and tools. We will discuss challenges and co-create solutions, and most importantly, you will be part of a unique space where you can easily find strategic partners.
